Mrs Karen Morgan
(OBE, DL, FRSA)
- Appointed Governor in 2004 and Vice-Chairman in November 2005 until December 2010.
- Served as a member of the Board of Governors of the University of the West of England from 1992-2004, Chairman from 1998-2004, and is currently a Pro Chancellor.
- She was a member of Council for National Academic Awards from 1982-1988, a Fulbright Commissioner from 1983-1987, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of University Chairman from 2001-2003, a member of HEFCE's Leadership, Governance and Management Committee from 2003-2006, and a member of the Management Board of the Equality Challenge Unit from 2003-2006.
- She was a member of the Natural Environment Research Council from 2002-2008, Vice Chairman of WaterAid from 2001-2007, a Director of Wessex Water from 1998-2005, and a member of the Boards of the Environment Agency and the National Rivers Authority between 1989 and 1998.
- She is presently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML), Vice Chairman of the PML Development Council and Chairman of EcoAlert Ltd, a PML spin out.
- She is a 'Critical Friend' to the Director of the British Antarctic Survey.
- She is a member of the RSA Council, Chairman of Trustees of The Converging World, a Vice President of Penny Brohn Cancer Care, Patron of Feet of Green and a member of the Governing Body of Colston's Collegiate School.
- She is a Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Water Conservators, a member of The Society of Merchant Venturers, and a Member of Court of The Honourable Company of Gloucestershire.
- She was awarded an OBE in 1999 for services to the protection of the water environment, and the degree of Doctor of Education, honoris causa, from UWE in 2004.
- She was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Gloucestershire in 2007.
- She currently sits on the following Committees: Environmental Sustainability Strategy Group, Planning & Resources. She is also a Board member of Royal Agricultural College Enterprises Ltd.
