Abrasive Wheels (LANTRA Integrated Test & Assessment)

This course is designed to cover the relevant legislation. It provides anyone who uses abrasive wheels, or is responsible for people who use them, with a comprehensive understanding of different types of machines and wheels, their operational limits and use of correct operating and safety procedures.

Blacksmithing and Ornamental Iron Work - Module 1

This course will cover the basics of metal work, such as bending, twisting and cutting. You will be able to create your own designs and make ornamental work such as small simple objects.

Please note: Due to the nature of this course (occasional coal fumes) some people who suffer with respiratory problems may find it unsuitable for them. If you have any concerns, please call the centre to discuss before booking a place.

Blacksmithing and Ornamental Iron Work - Module 2

This course follows on from the introductory course and takes your skills even further. You will spend the fist half of the course practising new techniques such as forming and scrolling. There will be an opportunity to design and create your own work.

Sheet Metal Work - Introduction

A course for those who wish to gain skills in basic sheet metalwork. The course is largely workshop based though there will be some classroom and drawing work.

Following the course of 4 evenings, students will leave with a completed tool box with an internal tray. Students can produce their own projects if they wish to do so.

Welding - Insight into Welding

A course for the novice or welder with limited experience who would like an introduction to the most common welding processes. The course covers: manual metal arc welding, oxygen/acetylene, welding/cutting and metal inert gas welding (MIG). A practical course that will give you some experience with the three processes.

Welding (Module 1) Introduction

A course for the novice or welder with limited experience who would like an introduction to the most common welding processes. The course covers:  manual metal arc welding, oxygen/acetylene, welding/cutting and metal inert gas welding (MIG). Welding (Module 2) Intermediate Welding and Fabrication

This course follows on from the popular introduction to Welding Methods course. Content includes more difficult welds in mild steel using the Arc and MIG process providing experience of vertical and overhead welding. The course also introduces Aluminium Welding.
