BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection
This course is primarily aimed at those working as field sales or technical staff, advisers, etc working in the crop protection industry and is a prerequisite for those who wish to give advice on the use of Agrochemicals commercially. Also it would benefit farmers and managers of large-scale arable enterprises. Candidates would normally be expected to have at least 2 years industry experience.

BASIS Plant Protection Award (PPA)
The BASIS PPA is the qualification required by the Crop Protection Association of its members' staff who regularly give advice. It's also the next step for any agronomist who wishes to demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge of Crop Protection Technology.

FACTS (Fertiliser Advisors Certification and Training Scheme)
Designed to achieve a high technical standard, this intensive 5 day course is essential for agronomists, consultants, sales representatives and farm managers involved in fertiliser application, planning and advice. This FACTS training will attract 30 CPD points for the BASIS Professional Register.
Candidates MUST have at least 2 years experience on a farm (as a farmer or adviser), be involved in fertiliser/agrochemical plans or advice. Some formal agricultural training is also necessary.

Pesticide Application PA1 (Safe Use of Pesticides)
This is a training course which will prepare you for the compulsory NPTC foundation module test. The subjects covered include: Legislation, Safety procedures, the use and storage of pesticides, keeping records and the disposal of pesticide containers and washings.

Pesticide Application PA2A (Ground Crop Sprayer)
This course will train you in the use of a field crop sprayer with hydraulic nozzles. If you have the necessary experience, this course will give the information required to undertake the NPTC PA2 assessment leading to the certificate of competence under the pesticide regulations. The subjects covered include: safe driving practice, setting and testing application rate, fault finding, pre and post operation maintenance.

Pesticide Application PA4A (Granule Application)
This course provides the training in preparation for the NPTC Hand Held or Machine Mounted Granule Application test, leading to a certificate of competence under the Pesticide Regulations. All operators of granular pesticide application equipment required training by law.

Pesticide Application PA6A (Hand Held Applicator)
This course provides the training in preparation for the NPTC Hand Held Pesticide Applicator test leading to the certificate of competence under the Pesticide Regulations if required. Subjects covered include: Sprayer preparation, safety, calibration, operation, sprayer decontamination, maintenance and storage.

Pesticide Application: Sprayer Operation
An optional post PA2A course, available to give experience of sprayer operation, in order to improve coordination and control of the machine. The course is designed to help prepare you for the PA2A assessment. You also have access to college equipment for your assessment.
