The Land-based Careers Taster Course is a two-day residential short course and is aimed at 16-19 year olds (although older students are still eligible and may find it of interest). It gives an insight to the many varied and interesting career options that exist in the food and land-based industries, both in the UK and worldwide. It also provides an opportunity to learn more about the courses that we have on offer at the College.

  • The course combines lectures and outside visits. The speakers are College lecturers, former students now working in land-based industries and outside professional people holding responsible positions in the industry.
  • Parents are invited to stay for the 'Welcome to College' on the first day.
  • Members of staff will be available for questions and course enquiries on the Wednesday afternoon over tea.
  • Clothing should be casual and warm.  A waterproof jacket and outdoor footwear are recommended for the visits.
  • Lifts to Kemble railway station or the coach station will be available after tea on Wednesday.
