Pre-Sessional Course

Before starting your degree programme, you may like to attend a four-week Pre-Sessional course to help you adjust to your new environment. This course is focused on learning in a UK University and teaches ‘English for academic purposes’.  It will also prepare you for life in the UK through cultural orientation.

What’s included in this course?

The Pre-Sessional course will:

  • Prepare you for your academic studies and improve your academic English.
  • Make you familiar with living in the UK.
  • Teach you to listen/read effectively and take good lecture notes.
  • Show you how to correctly reference and complete a bibliography.
  • Enhance your ability to plan, organise, and write essays and reports.
  • Prepare you to deliver presentations and take part in seminar discussions
  • Teach you how to locate research materials.
  • Prepare you to plan and organise your own independent study time.

There will also be visits to places of cultural interest to help you overcome practical issues such as opening a bank account, and registering with the local doctors and police.
