The Royal Agricultural College will charge tuition fees of £9,000 for the academic year 2012-13. This applies for all new UK, EU and overseas entrants on full-time courses delivered at the Royal Agricultural College. These fees do not apply to students who are returning for their second or third year of studies in 2012 (please see fees for returning undergraduate students).

This will enable the continuation of high academic standards whilst continually improving the student experience on campus.

The Royal Agricultural College is committed to ensuring that those with the potential and aspiration to enter higher education are able to do so, and a number of scholarships and funding packages are available.

Frequently asked questions about tuition fees for 2012 entry

What has the government decided on tuition fees?

A threshold of £6,000 and absolute cap of £9,000 has been set for home graduate contributions from 2012. The decision is an adaption of recommendations originally made in the Browne Review of student funding. The guiding principle of students not having to pay up front has been retained. Graduates will repay the cost of their education only when they are employed and earning above £21,000. Repayment rates on loans will be at 9% of salary over £21,000. Debt will be forgiven after 30 years.

Why do tuition fees need to increase?

The government has imposed cuts across most areas of public spending, including universities. The effect on Higher Education is a reduction in funding for teaching of around 75% over a three year period beginning in 2012. The government has therefore transferred more of the cost of teaching on to graduates.

Funding and Support

What support will be available for students?

The government will lend any eligible student the money to pay their university or college for tuition costs. For the first time, part-time students will be entitled to a loan and no longer forced to pay up-front costs.

A new £150m National Scholarships Programme will be targeted at bright potential students from poor backgrounds.

Will the RAC be providing any scholarships in 2012/13?

Yes. The RAC remains highly committed to ensuring that UK students with the academic ability to obtain a place at the RAC are able to do so regardless of their background.

As soon as our student funding package has been finalised, details will be published on our website. For more information please visit our Funding Opportunities section.
