Priority will be given to those who meet a minimum of one of following criteria:

minority ethnic background, looked after child, young carer, state school, low participation

neighbourhood ( both urban and rural), first generation in higher education, participation in RAC aspiration raising activity (i.e summer school or enrichment day)

Skills bursaries 

Minimum £250.00 p/a in 1st and 2nd yrs only

Bursary to enhance personal and professional skills, development and employability; complementary to academic teaching and learning or work placement. 

Available to all students

However priority to disadvantaged students where additional bursaries are available and additional need identified once studying

Employability Projects (Internships) 

Paid to student at salary of

£10-12k pro-rata

4 available per annum. Salary for project work that significantly enhances students’ employability, experience and professional development.

 

Available by application, in first instance to students from Access target groups who have relevant academic credentials. Unfilled positions rolled out to whole student population.  

Student-led project Bursaries 

Up to £1000

per project

10 Bursaries for student-created and led projects that enhance students’ employability and personal /professional skills.

 

Available by application, in first instance to students from Access target groups who have idea for project(s) that relate to the community, outreach, business ventures, peer mentoring or other.

The Royal Agricultural College will award £3,000 to 13 full time equivalent students starting in the 2012 - 2013 academic year. This award will be continued for all years of study.

To be considered for an NSP award you must be resident in England, have a declared household income of £25,000 or less and demonstrate high levels of academic achievement.

For the RAC to select applicants for the limited number of awards available, applicants who meet residence and household income criteria will be ranked by academic success using the information below:

 

A-LEVEL GRADES: A*A*A*, A*A*A, A*AA, AAA, AAB

BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMA GRADES: D*D*D*, D*D*D, D*DD, DDD

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE: 31, 30, 29, 28, 27

Applicants will be informed in late August once all qualification results are available whether they have been made an award.

Awards will be in the form of a fee waiver of £3,000 for each year of study as long as the household income remains at or below £25,000 and the student remains in full time study.

Part-Time Study

Applicants for part time study programmes who meet the criteria above and who will be studying a minimum of 25% of the full time study load will receive a fee waiver pro rata to their study load. E.g. a student studying 50% of full time, equivalent 60 credits, would receive an award of £1,500, the award would be adjusted to match study pattern in future years of study.

Means Tested Fee and Accommodation Waivers

Applicants who will be starting in the academic year 2012 – 2013, who have a household income of £25,000 or less, are not in receipt of National Scholarship Programme award and who meet at least one of the criteria outlined in the table above, will be entitled to a fee waiver or accommodation waiver of between £1,000 and £3,000 per year for the duration of their studies, providing the income of the household remains at or below £25,000 and the student remains in full time study.

Applicants who will be starting an undergraduate course in the academic year 2012 - 2013 who have a household income of above £25,000 and up to £42,500 and are not in receipt of any other support are entitled to between £1,000 and £3,000 for the first year of study.

All Scholarships and Waivers will be a reduction in either tuition fee or accommodation charges and are none repayable.
