Renewals

You can renew items on loan to you up to a maximum of 10 times unless another user has reserved the item. The quickest and easiest way to renew items is online via the log in function on the library catalogue, Heritage. You can do this on or off campus.

To renew items you can also:

  • Phone the library (Tel: 01285 652531 ext: 2274)
  • Email: library@rac.ac.uk
  • Renew the items directly at the library desk

Reservations

If all the copies of an item you need are on loan, you can make a reservation so that when the item is returned it is put aside for you. You can place a reservation yourself via the library catalogue, Heritage by searching for the item and then clicking on the ‘Reserve’ icon.

You can also ask a member of library staff to place a reservation for you. If you wish to place a reservation on a particular loan category (i.e. a general loan copy, not an overnight loan copy) please let the library staff member know. When the item becomes available you will be sent an email. The item will be held at the library desk for you for a limited time (normally two full working days). If you do not collect the item in that time it will go to the next person in the reservation list, or be returned to the shelves.

You can check the progress of your reservation via the library catalogue Heritage (using the Log In function). If you no longer need the reservation, please let a member of library staff know.
