About the College Archive
The mission of the College Archives is to serve as the official memory of the Royal Agricultural College. Its role is to collect, preserve and make accessible primary source material that forms a unique resource documenting the culture and history of the College. It consists of a fascinating mix of images, correspondence, minutes, student lists, accounts, legal and financial documents, etc. that together document the history of the college since its foundation in 1845.
The archivist, Lorna Parker, is currently sorting and cataloguing the collection and visitors are welcome by appointment. For any further information please contact Lorna Parker Tel: 01285 652351 ext: 2275 | email: archive@rac.ac.uk.
The Historical Collection
The College library is also custodian of a collection of historical books, some of which date back to the 16th century. The collection of over 1,000 volumes covers a wide range of subjects, but with the emphasis on all aspects of farming and rural life. Members of the public are welcome, by prior appointment, to view our Historical Collection of which we are justifiably proud.
