The RAC is committed to providing a working environment and management practices which promote employee wellbeing and good health.
The College will fulfil its commitment by:
- Identifying potential hazards or circumstances which might contribute to inappropriate levels of work-related stress and ill-health, and conduct risk assessments to eliminate or control such risks
- Increasing awareness and understanding of health related issues and the importance of wellbeing through identification, prevention, control and subsequent monitoring of causes of stress and ill-health at work including where appropriate training and health promotion
- Providing a confidential Counselling and Occupational Health service for all staff
- Offering a range of family friendly policies which can provide opportunities for staff to develop a good work-life balance
- Providing a personalised approach to taking healthy exercise, as the Gym has qualified personal trainers who can provide a tailored exercise programme to meet individual's specific needs.
In turn, staff will be encouraged to take a responsible approach to health and wellbeing issues.
Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
The Royal Agricultural College has an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for all staff and their dependant families. An Employee Assistance Programme is a confidential counselling and information service to assist you with personal or work-related problems that may be affecting your health, wellbeing or performance.

You can call the EAP on a free-phone number (free from a land line) for help with a wide range of problems from relationship difficulties to neighbour disputes, and from change to consumer rights. The following services are available under the Royal Agricultural College's EAP.
- Stress and emotional counselling
- Debt counselling
- Legal guidance
- Health and wellbeing information
- Financial and tax information
Occupational Health
The College is now providing an OH service for all staff. Occupational health is about the effect of work on health, and the effect of health on work. It will play a vital role in helping the College care for and understand the needs of its employees, and enable us to reduce sickness absence levels and optimise staff performance and productivity.
The areas in which occupational health advice can assist us, include rehabilitation programmes, disability adjustments, ill-health retirement issues and the management of existing work-related health problems.
OH will also provide a Wellbeing service, designed to promote a holistic approach to the long-term health of employees. Solutions such as health promotion workshops, lifestyle assessments and stress management services create healthy and happy employees and consequently optimal performance levels.
